A word about Family Filtering Software
There are two types of filtering that may be used. They are referred to as Server Side and Client Side software. Some ISP's offer Server Side and some don't. We at Network56 do not offer Server Side software. We prefer Client Side software. Some Client Side software is by subscription for a monthly fee and some are offered free. Now for the main differences
Server Side software must be maintained by the people running the server. The frequency of updates and maintenance is in the hands of those individuals. Client Side software is installed on your PC and maintained by you. Any time you feel it necessary to update you may do so. Also with Client Side software you may add objectionable sites immediately to your PC with the click of the mouse, and also suggest it to the software company who will block the site for everyone after a personal site review. All in all you have the most control when using Client Side software.
